How Do You Feel

There was a deep feeling
of foreboding settled
in the pit of my stomach,
when Providence laid
a benevolent hand on my shoulder—
       The old faceless man with
the scythe takes a step back.

A beautiful day dawned
and I breathed a shaky sigh.

After getting a stroke, I have become more aware of death. It has become my constant companion.
