Notes About The Poem

How Do I Feel

I feel like a black butterfly
Caught up in a hurricane
The winds of life’s times
Tossing me in destiny’s rain

It’s not always easy to hope
When you’re in such a storm
At the end of a creative rope
Forced to rebuild and be reborn

Never getting too attached
Owning very little in my name
Blessed as ideas hatch
From even my bipolar brain

I understand the reason
He is training me for more
And it’s not my season
To fly in sunny skies to soar

I long for my denim dreams
To have my soft girl error
Instead seems I’m fighting
To keep pure avoid terror

Traps set by the enemy
Playing on my inner fears
Knowing life’s not fantasy
And short are our years

Born breach with soul deep
I’m sure I have a purpose
Biggest fear being blindly
Lost in a life that’s worthless

How do I feel these weeks
Like a helpless butterfly
Trapped in hurricane windy
With a teasing view of sky

You wrote 'black butterfly.' I thought 'monarchial.' ~ gw
