How Confused Are You
My eyes are open,
My long sleep is over,
I know whose side I stand by.
I see where my loyalty lies,
My voice will not falter,
As I take a stand.
I know there is a price to pay,
That some I may have to leave behind,
Going ahead instead with those I may not like,
Who have been chosen by a higher authority.
Another walks in front to pave the way,
To a place I know not,
How long the journey will take,
Or how many wrong turns I will take, I know not.
Yet my eyes are open,
My heart is committed,
To the part I must play,
And the pain I have yet to suffer.
To be confused is human,
Yet to turn away from the light,
For fear of temporary blindness,
May only serve to make it a permanent state.
