How Can I Look At You?

How can I look you in the eyes When you have turned the world to lies? You built me up with whispered sound, Then left me broken on the ground. How can I face your gaze, so cold, When you discarded what you stole? You played your games, then walked away, Like I was nothing, just a stray. You wrote my name in filth and fire, Then turned your back, left me to tire. How can I meet you, eye to eye, When you’ve burned bridges with no sigh? No, I won’t give you that power still— Your cruel game, I won’t fulfill. I see you now, but I look past, Your shadow’s gone, my heart’s steadfast. So go ahead and stand, unseen, I’ll stay free from what has been. For the truth in silence speaks so loud, No need to bow to your cruel shroud. How can I look you in the eyes? When all you are is dust and lies. mj /2025
