Hot Summer's Day

I hear chirping birds before rainfall
On a hot summer’s day
Humidity is thick, like a wall

Relief is a raindrop away
Tints of green in leaves so still
Ready to dance and play

The bird bath is waiting for re-fill
Again, this hot summer’s day
Energy lacking, but I have a will

To let go in the rain on my way
To the next place I belong
In this shelter, I cannot stay

There’s no room left to be wrong

Wonderfully painted the hot and humid day--awaiting relief of rainfall. Enjoyed the voice of your descriptive poem, Heidi.

The moments when a summer storm is building through the heat broken by a rainstorm are perfectly and lyrically painted. This is so relatable Heidi. Best wishes for the contest. Blessings sent on cooling wings!
