Hosanna To the Chosen One
He rode in on a donkey,
Multitudes were there
Chants of Hosanna
And Master filled the air
The apostles cleared the way
For this gentle holy man
People reached out to touch him
Not knowing his father’s plan
“Look this way Jesus
Heal my loved one’s pain”
“I heard you raise the dead”
Was a popular refrain
But only Jesus knew
The burden he would bear
As he gently bowed his head
And closed his eyes in prayer
How were they to know
As they knelt to kiss his hem
How soon their cheers would fade
And he would be condemned
But Jesus knew what was ahead
It could not be undone
Thus he freely give his life for us
As God’s only begotten son.
