illusions dearly held
but they're vanity

Hope is a complex abstract thing to which we cling and it keeps us from going under. ~ Regards // paul John Hamilton September 6, 2016 at 1:16 PM It's true hope is a powerful force, but some put their trust only in humans, and so are disillusioned by our ineptitude, and greed etc, hence the feelings in the song. Not me though I'm a believer.
