Hopes and Fears

As an adopted child, I often feel a sense of longing, A yearning for a connection to my roots, my history, I am a puzzle piece that doesn't quite fit, A piece of a family that I am not biologically a part of. I look around at my siblings, my parents, And I can't help but wonder where I truly belong, Do I share their blood, their DNA, Or am I forever destined to be an outsider? I watch as they share inside jokes, Their laughter filling the room with warmth, But I am always on the outside looking in, A silent observer in a world that isn't quite mine. I long to know my birth parents, To discover the stories of my past, But I fear what I may find, Will it bring me closer to my true identity, Or will it only serve to deepen the void within me? I struggle to find my place in this world, To carve out a space that is uniquely mine, But I am constantly overshadowed by the ghosts of my past, The questions and doubts that plague my mind. I am an adopted child, A child without a trace of where I came from, But I am more than just a label, I am a person with my own dreams and desires, My own hopes and fears. I may feel left out at times, But I am determined to find my place, To create a life that is filled with love and acceptance, To embrace the unique journey that is mine alone. So I will continue to search for answers, To seek out the pieces of my puzzle, And I will hold onto the hope that one day, I will no longer feel like an outsider, But instead, like a beloved member of a family, A family that may not share my blood, But that shares my heart.
