Hopeless

I don't have anything to build on
 All the world is decay
 Love is rarely found
 Today
 I cannot find
A heart that beats in time
 With mine
The rainbow hides behind the storm
 All has changed
 Been rearranged
 Home has been destroyed
 Many are unemployed
 I can't revisit
The place I used to be
Tho' I clutch at the memory
My heart is torn in two
 As I long for
The girl I used to be
 Where has it gone
The haven where I once belonged
As I sang the unheard song
Oh please Lord grant rest to my soul
 As I ache for yesterday
 Where love beckoned me
 And great neighbours were normality
What happened to the days long ago
When green fields held a glow
 And the heart understood
 All was good
 Fear was absent then
 Everyone was friend
Oh take me back there again
