Hope of Today

Paths forward lay in disarray
Uneasy chills run up your spine
Tomorrow shrouded by the bleak of today
As you pretend to be more than fine

Strength seeped away as the hours pass
Hoping to forgive a self made crime
Gut wrenching fear found in a crowded mass
Wayward souls yearning for the brightest dime

As time moves swift, hastened by want
Mortal strife to pursue pure bliss
Fame and riches obtained to flaunt
Desired affection found inside a lover's kiss

Paths lay ahead, you don't know the way
Yet tomorrow is brighter by the hope of today.
