Hope Is Here

Melted snow forms a swamp in the yard
Pours down the sidewalks, into the street gutters
Children in slick yellow rain coats are jumping in puddles
Delighted that they can play outside again

We are two weeks past the ides of March.
Hopeful gardeners are imagining the daffodils and tulips
Which will soon be popping up in a bright and happy way.
We are excited beyond belief because hope is here.
