Hope

 
Not seeing the future bright and shining
Fear and dismay of the past
Living day to day
A black shadow over me
Suddenly today a ray of sunshine 
Felt a beautiful thing in life
The past in the past 
Forgetting the distress away in a distance
Opening my eyes to a new day
Birds singing at dawn
Trees waving with the wind
The ugliness gone
Becoming aware of the beauty of the world
I caught myself smiling.
Looking to the future with hope
