Hope

Fire and hope are connected, did you know?
Prometheus gave us the gift of fire
Averse the wishes of Zeus long ago.
Thus ultimately arousing his ire
That he punished harshly this pyro-thief.
Chained, exposed, his fate was caste forever.
This heartless god, ruthless beyond belief
Summoned a raptor to eat his liver.
To punish Man for use of fiery gift
Sent Pandora equipped with box of woes
Released misfortunes, sending Man adrift.
All that remained after the box was closed
Was hope, a virtue. Thus Mans salvation
came, avoiding eternal damnation.
