Hope
Hope
Hope is calling God
And getting the voicemail back-
- He’s not here at the moment
But he’ll get back to you
Hope is calling God again
And again getting the voicemail back –
- He’s not here at the moment
But he’ll get back to you
The voicemail is a male voice –
A priest’s voice -
How does he know about God’s whereabouts
And his availability?
I only hope he’s right.
I only hope……
Despair is giving up,
Never reaching God,
Going no further than the voicemail
And saying – there’s nothing more.
I’ve called too many times –
He wasn’t in -
He isn’t in -
He won’t be in.
Hope is hoping
That God will get back to me
That He’ll remember all those calls
When I couldn’t get through
When the voicemail tried to soothe me
Hope is hoping
That God will never answer the phone
And say
- Thank you for calling. Please hold the line…….
Hope is hoping
That God will answer the phone
And say
- Here I am. Is everything OK?
