Honest Lie

Your beautiful unfaithful lips once,
Brushed against mine planting dishonest kisses.
Your voice of treason spoke,
With a falseness in its tone.

Raising my inner suspicions,
Alerting my heart of duplicity.
I pondered the frequent question,
Why were you selling out our dreams?

Your disloyalty flickered,
Like a candle in the dark.
I have a feeling you won’t be returning,
So please give me one more honest lie,
And say you will...to keep me sane.

My congratulations on your win in the "Betrayal" Contest, Raul. This is a great write-sad but all these betrayals can make us stronger when we learn from them.... I haven't learn, yet- it seems. Peace, Audrey

Such a sad, yet heartfilled poem of betrayal, and distrust in one once loved. (I hope this isn't your own experience, my friend). Perhaps this is for the contest... What a wonderful entry, with this heartbreaking theme. My best wishes. Love, Carrie

Hey Raul, hows you, Oh how love can sit one on the highest mountain, then throw one into the deepest pit, yet, always the pit has a door waiting to take you to a higher love, a love more deserving of you, love and peace, simone
