Homely Appeasements
Homely Appeasements
'You are what you eat', say the dieticians!
There is no escape from gormandising
I'm a foodie! It's aroma inflates my spirits
I once tasted garlic cottage cheese curry
In my dream, and my restive spirits unruffled
The next day for gastronomical delights to perfection
Home made bread, nicely buttered is a soul comforter
Especially when it sandwiches cheese on garden fresh lettuce
A serving of fruit yogurt calms my high tensed nerves
Another breakfasty delight is the aroma of salted butter
When two yolked eggs are fried together, they smile on
Warm toasts garnished with lemony herbs and sausages
Lunch I can binge on mangoes, my favourite fruit
I remember my granny warning me in childhood
Of having far too many alphonsos, but I couldn't be appeased
As week after week they tempted me on their arrival in baskets
From the botanical gardens, a tradition that continues till today
Grandpa winked, 'Enjoy the king of fruits to stay healthy!'
Fruity salads with tenderly roasted chicken for dinner
Is incomplete without soufflés, puddings or desserts
I'm happiest rustling up new dishes and relish my concoctions
If invited out I gorge on the aroma of warmth and fondness
With which the loving hostess has arrayed her heavenly cuisine
Cinnamony coffee, hot or cold anytime synergises me for a bouncy day
