Homeless Veteran
Homeless veteran
I served my country for the queen
When I left bad things I have seen
My life was turned upside down
People look at you with a disgusting frown
They did not know what I had done
A few years ago I carried a gun
On the streets I did live
Begging for money of people who would give
Pain I felt everyday
Wishing it would go away
I hit the drink and the drugs
So I couldn't feel the bugs
Finding the place to lay my head
Every night wishing I was dead
Find a cardboard box or a doorway
if you haven't done it you've nothing to say
It's a rough world on them streets
Fighting begging to make ends meet
I didn't realise people out there
The brotherhood really do care
I was lucky someone found me
Picked me up of my broken knee
Gave me a bed and not just rugs
They supported me of the drugs
And now that I'm on the way
Taking it day by day
I must really thank my friends
Now that past life is at end
