Homeless

Hope such an allusive thing Only the despair that each day brings Memories of a dignified life Every day overwhelming strife Living again for just one more day Empty eyes see the world as gray Seeking compassion from their fellow man Surely each of us needs to do what we can…. 827/14

We are fortunate here on the Island we have few if any homeless that I am aware of but when we go to the mainland I am shocked by the people sleeping rough - we haven't progressed much in our care system:-( hugs Jan xx. great acrostic good luck with the contest:-)

Barbara- this is beautifully and thoughtfully penned. It's a shame we have hundreds of thousand empty homes in u.s. and homeless people sleeping on our streets and many are just one paycheck away. Thank you for your insightful poem, it was a pleasure to read. :-) Christine

Thank you for stopping by. My younger son was always so appalled as a teenager that we would stop and by food for them many times a week. I cringe every time I see a homeless person..unfortunately many of them have mental health issues..wish is a whole other problem.

Very little progress Im afraid..we cant take care of our own and still have a great need to take care of other countries..Its a conundrum.
