Home For Christmas
Upon this night of Christmas lights
A heavy snow came drifting down
From faraway I saw a red and golden sleigh
Then to my fright there were jingling bells ringing
Then a red dot appeared leading Santa’s way
Back into bed I went with wondering thoughts
I closed my eyes only to hear a Ho, Ho, Ho
Then I heard a load clatter upon the roof
And heard many reindeer's hoofs
I jumped out of bed wanting to see
But then what I saw I could not believe
There were presents all under the tree
A bike, with all the boxes wrapped with bows
The milk was gone and the cookies to
Even the carrots were eaten
A huge smile came upon my face
For it was now Christmas Day
I ran to my parents jumping for joy
Yelling and screaming wake up
But only my mother was there
Forgetting that my father was off to war
She awoke and we sat together
Both with teardrops in our eyes
We sat among all the presents
When we heard a knock at the door
I ran to answer it and there he was
in his uniform of war
Taller than I have ever seen before
He spoke and said:
Santa dropped me off for you!
This was,
The best Christmas of all
