Home Alone
They Said You Were Missing in Action.
There Was Not More than That Known.
But You Would Receive Great Honor
Because You Would Not Come Home.
Honor Is a Very Great Thing,
I Knew You Would Be Well Pleased,
I Told Them You Would Have Been Happy,
And of Course They All Agreed.
But Honor Never Helped My Pain
Or Gave Me Children of My Own
It Never Said it Will Be Okay
When I Cried in the Night Alone.
It Has Been Such a Long Time Back,
The Day I Received News of Your Death,
Sometimes I Still Cry in the Night,
And Think I Shall Breathe My Last Breath.
Oh, I Shall Never Forget You
Because We Were So Entwined.
The Majority of My Life I Spent
Pledged to You for All Time.
But Now the Time Has Come
To Say a Final Goodbye,
I Shall Find Your Name on the Wall,
And Dry These Tears in My Eyes.
Thirty Some Years I Waited for Word,
To Say You Were Coming Home,
Today I Got a Letter That Said....
I Would No Longer Be Home Alone.
