Holy Child

on to you a savior was born this night
the shepherds heard the angels come to say
this star so bright will be your guiding light
go see the king atop the manger's hay

the shepherds heard the angels come to say
swaddled in cloth of ivory he lays
go see the king atop the manger's hay
follow the light to go offer your praise

swaddled in cloth of ivory he lays
journey to the manger over the steeps
follow the light to go offer your praise
it is there the holy child softly sleeps

journey to the manger over the steeps
this star so bright will be your guiding light
it is there this holy child softly sleeps
on to you a savior was born this night

Congratulations on your very well-deserved win, Sandra. I want to thank you for entering my contest. The birthday of Jesus is my favorite time to remind me of why I am blessed. Your poem had great flow, perfect rhyme, and imagery. Hugs Eve

First let me say Happy Birthday again... then let me thank for for hosting this contest and for your pantoum lesson on your page that allowed me to step outside my comfort zone and attempt another one....to me Christmas is about Christ, so i set my sights on photo one...i am elated with the high placement...i struggle with rhyme, rhythm and forms but am attempting more and more of them... hugs and blessings

Thank you so much Chris... this is one of the hardest forms for me to write... probably because of the strict structure and rules...i sometimes like to challenge myself though i almost threw the towel in with it... hugs

Thank you so much Robert...i am honored that you faved this one and by your kind words... rhyme is hard for me... add the constraints of the form and the syllable counts ...it took me days to complete this one... hugs

Your words paint the photo and tell the holy story-- depicting the scene beautifully. All the best, Sandy.
