Holly

Holly
By Michelle Morris

The Holly leaves shine brightly
Under the dappled sunlit woods
Mysterious and silent
Alone and misunderstood

Sacred and compelling
As the thorny crown and blood of Christ
A symbol of fertility
And eternal life

Peace and goodwill blessings
Christmas and wintertime
So much gratitude is given
By mythology and religious tomes

Inspiring creativity and endurance
Throughout the darkest days
Holly is a reminder
To focus on your greatness

The Holly leaves are also simply
Beautiful and green
A quiet reminder to me
That life is a constant blessing

So much spirituality and meaning
So many blessings to us all
The Holly tree is an evergreen symbol
Forever in this changing world
