Hollow Persuits

you tell your self,
he had it commin'
your friends "felt"
that he was gunnin'

on your tongue the
taste
of sour grapes
another one
of your great escapes

wagon train.. smoke
and dust- there is
no love, where there
is no trust-

we stagger on,
blind and numb...
face to face with
what we've become

hollow persuits...
what's the use?
there is no hope
where there is no love

logic, bought and sold-
how was i to know?
a child on a swing,
untouched by deceit-

removed from times' rust
she, wanted very little-
a smile, any small display
of love....

years of wasted tears, shattered dreams, dishes
and empty cups
over used excuses, blame, and
abuses

enough, never close or touched
without hope,
there is no love-
within a childs' heart, resides.....

a secrete place,
where love quietly ,
paiently, resides....
