Hollow Hushed Heart

Written: May 3rd 2026, for a contest sponsored by Line Gauthier 2nd place contest winner ***************** Shadows shiver with the shape of you. Your ghost-warm whisper cuts straight through. Memory is a moribund mirror, cracked and cold. My heart holds your hollow hush, uncontrolled. Night gnaws softly on what we used to be. And silence bleeds your absence back into me.

This poem explores the lingering ache of a lost first love through the lens of memory and absence. A past relationship can haunt the present.

appreciate the subtle alliteration especially 'memory is a moribund mirror' (moribund is a word not many use these days.) Wishing you well,Texas hugs, Sara

A shape, ghost warm…seems to be the memory of his love who dies. Well expressed!
