Hollow Hope

A slight whiff of wind Blew the last petal off a solitary wildflower Swirling through the air It landed on a crack In the dried river bed ... A displaced grey dragonfly Sniffed the hollow wind For a sign of a distant shower Neither did it found any Nor did it have the strength To chase one he might have.
