Holding the Moments

The vehicle sped
Down the road
They are seated
Side by side
Emotions to control
Feelings to hide
Distance to go
Not much
Very soon
Destination will arrive
So these
Fleeting moments
They must clutch
And they do-
Holding the moments
For those brief seconds
Their fingers intertwined
The racing heart
Overtaking the mind
A gentle squeeze
Form him
Followed by
Her enchanting smile
Just before
The roaring vehicle
Covers the remaining miles
