Holding Still

a small clock breathes once on the edge of the shelf~ slow exhale, lifting the dust as if time were tired of holding still

A beautifully restrained imagist piece. The small clock “breathes” so quietly yet transforms the still shelf into a moment charged with fatigue and feeling. I love the delicate movement of the dust in the “slow exhale,” and the closing personification of time leaves a haunting, contemplative echo.
