Holding on to a thread

And just like me It’ll try its best To keep you warm and comfortable Through pressure and rest It loves to be in a pair But it can stand on its own When one gets lost or goes missing The other will likely be forever alone If it gets used a lot It will wear out It’ll be tossed away And soon forgotten about But when things get tough As me, holding on is what it will do Holding on to that last thread Until it becomes see-through The tear is visible And no one wants it anymore Life has taken its toll And it’s not whole, as it was before It is an inevitable thing Just a couple of rounds on the clock For me to realize I’m just the same as a sock
