Holding Japan

Light a candle
Each flickering flame representing a face
A time for togetherness for this race

The world cries
Time for giving and wearing their hearts
Opening their homes to families lost

Landscape crying
Beauty still shines through the pain
A community will rebuild again

United in hurt
Holding each other to stand tall together
They remember their angels forever and ever

Hi Emma-They are certainly UNITED in hurt as you well-coined this phrase. The format of this poem is unique...light a candle...the world cries...landscape crying...a real home run! Gwendolen

Very nicely done, Emma. I wanted to do a haiku series like this one myself. But I just keep postponing. I guess my muse's heart is not in it! Good luck in the contest, dear.

now do you support other kind of animals being butchered like the tiger? then you should support dolphins and whales and understand Gods supreme reign of why he sent it

bottom line, if you support the tigers..you should be supporting his decision of his dolphins and whales too..

i completely agree with helping japan..I do..I am not unsympathetic to their plee..but my religion is clear he makes storms happen, and they are butchering whales and killing dolphins..I do not disagree with his decisions of storms..but I think that it is good people are being helped..because it is their government allowing it..and bad people doing the butchering, not all japanese agree with the animals they butcher

A very moving tribute to the people of Japan and their ability to unite when catastrophe strikes, Emma. I really like the form you used here; it is similar to one I have used often and it makes for a great flow. Best wishes in the contest! Love, Carolyn
