Hold That Thought In Faith
Hold That Thought in Faith
I know that there is something that surrounds me
Permeating through every living thing
In every blade of grass and with every atom
It speaks to me from the light
A light which is born from with out and from within
Like you I have found a thousand words to explain
And found a single word to name
Each and every day I wake to hear it
Spoken from an eternal sound
And from my heart and soul its echoes resound
And I see in every leaf I know its meaning
In every star, in every smile, in every sunrise
Even from the stone its mountain voice is calling
Carrying the messages through my eyes
While the sea simply mirrors my reply
And through the fields where children are walking
Through the shades of leaves and winds and across open plains
Whispering from the eyes of life as they are playing
Their question lingering on the tip of my tongue
It answers to a feeling that defies my description
Unity is a living breathing cosmos
Eternity in every micro-cosmos’s facet
And through this breath we breathe the sun
And with these eyes we see the ONE
And why, why won’t faith just let us hold onto this perpetual thought
Only for a moment can I catch this whisper
I can feel the rivers run a bubbling sense of laughter
As living suddenly comes to me and offers up its proof
Though its purpose still alludes
As I sense some instant of undeniable truth
Morning dew dusts a spider web
A shaft of light rest on a scarlet flowers head
Beauties perceived as these grandeurs flow and ebb
Through the living veins of a tree
Against the painted sunset sky stands its silhouette
A flood of senses tugs at my very core
While before me there seems to be an open door
Its promise is another way to see and another way to be
A simple change of heart could lead me through
To keep in mind this acuity for ever more
Eternity eternal this of God surrounds me
Universal universe as it lays in dust and in earth
Speaking, beating out its pulse it resonates through everything
Not the last nor the first of creations created us to be
Waiting for a momentary recognition to make it sing
And giddy from the air of thinking dizzy
I smile at my two dogs who are busy playing
Another world and another day is calling
Pulls my eyes from such things heavenly
And turn my hand back to the art of surviving
Nagging round my hair and busy thinking
The tiny world of twentieth century living
Still somewhere from recesses I feel a pull
Questioning me why can’t I hold it all
Why, why can’t I just hold that thought in faith
