I apologise for the very dark theme I was reading how prisoners on death row have a choice of how they will be killed... it is a very emotive subject Condemned to death, now you must die… lethal injection or electric chair? You confessed your guilt and didn’t lie condemned to death, now you must die as you strangled her, but wouldn’t say why - of the death penalty you were aware Condemned to death, now you must die … lethal injection or electric chair? Pick-A-Title, Vol 24 - Triolet - Poetry Contest 3 Hobson’s Choice Sponsored by Edward Ibeh 10/20/20

It's not a choice I'd want to be offered, Jan!! But, if I were to choose, I'd ask to die of short of breath...then I could go 'on the run'! Congratulations on your fine showing! Hugs // paul

Death row is a haunting subject. Hard to imagine what a person in that situation must have go through. Thank you for providing us insights into any and every subject through your poetry. Hugs ~ John

Yes Jan The punishment remains the same either way But Confessed and admitted guilt If nothing else and little or small comfort as it may be At least or better to die with a somewhat clear conscious knowing you we're not entirely bad

They dont always get it right, George Kelly Derek Bentley and Timothy Evana all found innocent after they were hung. That said prisons shouldn't be like holiday camps, I used to chat with the warders at Long Lartin and they used to get annoyed when wide screen tvs arrived for the prisoners. They should be out breaking rocks grrr Tom

hey jan! great poem - you've really nailed it! i hate the idea of the death penalty and don't think that every state allows a choice but what a horrible decision to have to make!

Thanks Ilene I got the idea for the poem and then googled to see about prisoners being allowed to 'choose' how they die and several states gave them a choice . got to admit its and emotive theme i am surprised i have had so many comments:-) hugs jan xx

Hi Jan, The death penalty sounds harsh. I’m not really for it either. Who are we to judge? But families of the victims want justice for loved their ones murder ( my heart goes out to them). They’re on death row, how did they get there? By their own actions. However, there are many innocent people on death row. Best wishes in the in the contest. Enjoy the rest of your day my friend-Alexis

I am personally against the death penalty. But once it's there one can chose. I remember once a condemned man wanted to be shot to death. They accepted. Interesting thoughts. ~~
