Hit the Bottle

When I'm feeling blue all hours of twenty four
And my spirit is hanging down to the floor,
To lift up my spirit I just hug as I always do
To a dandy bottle of rum and Miss Mary Lou.

For a long time now when I feel kind of blue
Like a hole in the sole of my worn-out shoe
and my spirit’s worn like my threadbare shirt,
I cuddle a bottle of Gin and Miss Sally Schwert.

Weary of the world’s affairs, travails of life
The taunts, the teases, the deception of wife,
So I clutch close to my heart, as I always do
A fine bottle of brandy and Miss Sandy Sue.
