History Repeats Itself
History Repeats Itself
By Alice Maraglia
It has been said many times, that history repeats itself,
or does it?
Are we creating or destroying what seems to be our
present circumstance?
It seems to me, that I have lived here before, or was
it just a distant memory?
Pain comes and goes like the wind on the water,
lapping up tears, salty, yet refreshing.
For if I could choose to stay, here, then I would
only for a moment, history will
repeat itself, with or without me.
For those whose lives have been ripped apart,
destroyed for lack of knowledge, yes, history
repeats itself because we only do what is familiar.
Stretching our imagination is painful, the progress
is slow, demanding, tedious, and cruel.
Only those who dare to trust the outcome
will grow, and survive.
Come inside the mind of one who not only
believes he can, and is determined to finish
the race of which he started, so history does
not repeat itself.
You are not alone on this journey you've created,
others, who have gone before, some succeeded
others are still on their way,
You do not live by bread alone, but of those
things that water the soul.
That is what makes you stay.
You hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for His name sake, not your own. Only
He, can fill the empty soul.
If it's history you want, continue to
repeat what isn't working.
