History

You pay a lot of money to
have the government tell
you you own something.
But nothing is truly
yours, the land stays
forever, the house crumbles,
the family moves on to
better things and meets
you at the assigned place
when on the other side.
Your body is left in a
nameless cemetery on a
forgotten road with
a marker destroyed by
time and weather.
The only survivors are
stories, legends and love.
Tell your history to those
who can tell the next
generation, keep your
family, your lifestyle
and yourself alive.
Forever.

You are quite correct. Sometimes I look around at all the stuff I've amassed and it makes me sad that one day NONE of it is coming with me, lol.
