Notes About The Poem
Anthony Biaanco's Contest ~ Isaiah 5:20 ~ 2/12/26
His Word Was Made Clear
In the Book of Isaiah,
twentieth verse of chapter five,
God has made His Word clear.
There's no exception to be taken,
so those wandering off the righteous path
will find they were sadly mistaken.
For them there will be much to fear.
Trouble and grief will befall those who stray.
We dare not question right from wrong
by pretending we can color things
in variegated shades of gray.
God does not negotiate His laws,
so, we must keep our faith strong,
despite the fault of our human flaws
by not giving in to temptation.
The inclination to do as we please
is not the way that leads to salvation.
If into darkness we stumble and fall,
His light within us will surely dim
and the sweet taste of belonging to Him
will become sour upon the tongue.
We can't turn His laws around
to suit ourselves if we have the whim.
There is no goodness to be found in bad.
How sad we would make Him
to forsake the blessings we've been given.
Humbly, we must remain honor bound,
so, from God's love we will not be riven.
