His Story
"Before being pushed through yet another womb
I volunteered for this mission.
I recall this old odd looking guy
it could have been the image of God
or it might have been a squirrel
kinda fuzzy about the details.
Now I am over the hill and on the way down
or back, depending on your faith.
I hope 'up' is a metaphor for heaven
or someplace better than here,
not too higher a bar to achieve I assume."
The homeless dude who told me this story
took a pull on his cheap vodka bottle
and slumped, sat as he was
in his own pool of piss.
It looked like he was meditating
or in the midst of a constant prayer.
I walked away
thinking just another crazy derelict.
That night I dreamt that a fuzzy-faced angel
had grabbed me firmly by the arm.
It took me to a celestial temple
where humanoid squirrels
shared their past earth-stories.
They were having a pool-party
and swam around in only the finest vodka.
