His Own Beloved Son

A baby was born Christmas day,
and so I go to church and pray,
the words flow like a sweet songbird.
Oh, praise God and his holy word !

I have often asked my God why,
on many a Christmas just cry,
but by God's wisdom I am stirred.
Oh, praise God and his holy word !

God gave us his own beloved son,
and he preached until it was done,
when some doubt I am undeterred.
Oh, praise God and his holy word !

At Christmas I am filled with joy,
and all traditions I enjoy,
but God's voice I have heard.
Oh, praise God and his holy word !

Will try my best to be of worth,
for all of my days left on earth,
and on death I will fly a bird.
Oh, praise God and his holy word.
