Notes About The Poem

His Majesty's Guests

In the hall, my guests were assembled.
"Your Majesty", their spokesman trembled,
and so, I allayed their idle fears
to the sound of drying tears.
I'd never welcomed such guests as these.
To the left, were crackers. To the right, was cheese.
