His Guardian Angel Came
He went to sleep
but ne’er woke up
His guardian angel came
and gently called his name
No fuss
No pain
Just called his name
And took him
by the hand
Afore the dawn
on this brand new morn
So peaceful
she thought
Just sleeping
she thought
But as she softly called his name
He did not stir
No breath
He’d gone
No fuss
No pain
‘Twas then she knew
His guardian angel came
Then for a while
With him she’d lain
As softly
She did call his name
This precious time
Just him and her
There was no breath
He did not stir
She said goodbye
Her love she sent
His spirit rose
His soul did soar
Eternal love forevermore
She wept and slowly closed the door
