Notes About The Poem

My Challenge For October Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Andrea Dietrich Written 10/10/2025

Hips

I can deep bend, I can prance, I can dance.
But when it's time for bed, not in romance.
I toss, turn in intense pain.
My hips, a drain on my brain.
Prescribe relievers are not worth two cents.

Oh, so sorry about your hip. I remember you have told me numerous things you struggle with. Did you ever get surgery for it? I don't remember. I got my surgery last month and my limp has now disappeared. My other problems remain unresolved but I am so glad to have had the hip replacement. Congrats in my contest, Eve.

Oh, Eve, I am so very sorry to hear of your hip pain. Landed on my back five months ago and, sometimes, at night, my hip is very sore and awakens me. Know you are in my prayers. Sending you blessings for a pain free sleep. I pray there will be some kind of resolution for your pain! Best wishes for the contest.

Thank you, Sam. Sorry, I know how it feels falling on your back. I did that a few years back on my ceramic floor. While walking forward, my grandson at 2 at the time in his walker, came towards me, not expecting him and I stepped on the bar falling backwards. I know now how a basketball feels.

Anne-Lise, i know walking helps a lot. I understand that it might be my disks grinding against each other.

OMgoodness! I had a car accident when I was young, and it threw my back out. The inattentive guy hit my car from behind, and his car insurance paid 6 months of my chiropractor bills. I hope you will be able to remedy the situation, somehow. You’re in my prayers, Eve. Aloha.
