She bit the inside of her cheek

She would not cry
there would be no weakness
in her expression

Her breath slowed
She possessed a scary calmness
that no one could understand

Each word spoken was slow

Each beat of her heart made sense

Their discussions too animated
nods of their heads too quick

It sickened her

How well you express the inner thoughts of one who hides their emotions, Laurie. And yet, as a writer, your emotions speak loud and clear. There is quite a wise observation in the last four lines. Truly a great poem!

Wow...I've been gone most of the day, then to return and find you have been busy with this heavy-duty poem..wow! This scene has all kinds of unpleasant possibilities...makes me want to pick your brain...I've been in certain situations that makes me think...was it this, or that, that was something she couldn't tolerate? You've stirred our minds with this one, Laurie! (ps...Chris is still hot and bothered!! )

And yet, I see and find Your strength within these wonderful words of Yours here~so sure, strong and dignified~as a glimpse upon the admirable qualities of character in which "You Hold!!!!"....cont....
