Highs and Lows

My highs are so high I feel like it’s finally safe to breathe
But my lows are so low I can’t figure out what I need
As I sit in my car with tears running down my cheeks
I feel kind of silly and out of place
Nothing makes sense to me
What is safe for me?
I’m living with my thoughts packed in tight
And when I start to sort through them, I don’t feel right
It’s so deep
And I wish it would stop
I try to avoid situations I know will make me feel this way
But I pull them in and here they lay
Resting in pieces
A million of them I can’t put back together
And I’m really trying this time
I want to be happy without all this bullcrap holding me
But sometimes highs and lows are all I know
And it’s so hard to let go

This feels raw and simple moments like sitting in the car make the highs and lows hit harder without trying to over dramatize them in these lines. It’s honest, relatable, and lets the emotion speak for itself. Your poem is engaging and a great read. Thanks for sharing with the community, Christina.
