High Desert Scene

Rolling hills dim in the distance Beneath low-hovering mists, While an occasional stand of pines Punctuates the shallow canyon rim, The steppes to the summit appear Like wrinkles carved into the face Long ago, the sharp outcropping defines A deep crevice plunging sharply Toward the foreground in shadows, Vanishing into imagined darkness.

Thank you, Tom, but I'm afraid I'll have to give credit to the photographer!
