High Chairs
. for public domain
Everyone wants to stand on a chair,
no matter their gender, no matter what where.
From beggar to ruler, from short or from tall,
if there's a chair nearby, we stand on them all.
When no guard is watching within a museum,
look round a corner, sure enough you'll see 'em
mounting an antique that's worth a few million,
cushioned and covered with bright red vermilion
We must get up higher, if not for the view,
than just for the joy of being taller than you.
From Moscow to Shanghai, and all points beyond here,
we must get up high and see what is up there.
