High Chairs

. for public domain Everyone wants to stand on a chair, no matter their gender, no matter what where. From beggar to ruler, from short or from tall, if there's a chair nearby, we stand on them all. When no guard is watching within a museum, look round a corner, sure enough you'll see 'em mounting an antique that's worth a few million, cushioned and covered with bright red vermilion We must get up higher, if not for the view, than just for the joy of being taller than you. From Moscow to Shanghai, and all points beyond here, we must get up high and see what is up there.

This is filled with humorous memories of my own until the day I missed the seat of the chair, instead trying to balance with both feet on the back as I tipped right before I tore my meniscus, and my ACL. I still smiled at this poem though.

Smile though your heart is aching Smile even though it's breaking When there are clouds in the sky, you'll get by If you smile through your fear and sorrow Smile and maybe tomorrow You'll see the sun come shining through for you Songwriters: Charles Chaplin / John Turner / Geoffrey Parsons
