Hiding In the Ferns
hiding in the ferns, slithering low
Sneaking and plotting
eyes narrow
the ferns part as she backs up
knowing she only has one shot
no dress rehearsal
unsuspecting baby frog
hops right toward her yellow eyes
not understanding when the darkness happens
the fern feels guilty
an unwilling culprit
as the snake devours her lunch
