Hiding Echoes

She plays music throughout the night,
and throughout her free time.
She sometimes makes calls for the sake of it,
and talks with her friends - their conversations
sound superficial and murky.
When she's not playing music or talking,
she listens to the city's noise,
close to her window.
She does all this to silence the echoes
in her mind. They have eaten up her bliss,
leaving a big space of emptiness…..
