Hiding Behind Shame and Pain

Hiding Behind Shame and Pain

Why is everyone always picking on each other,
Or making up stories about each other?
We live in a society that feeds
On tearing each other down,
Rather than building us up from the ground.

Many times we use so much energy
Trying to prove someone wrong,
Only to find out that you were wrong.
Rather than accepting the fact that you're incorrect,
We look to make up stories just to make others upset.

The feeling of being wrong, is so uncomfortable.
So instead of finding peace when you feel unease,
We retaliate on those who made us feel angry.
Point the blame on other people
To take the focus off ourselves.

We don't want to be the only one's hiding
Behind the curtain of shame.
Point out other people's pain so that
They too are hiding behind your same
Curtain of shame and pain.
