Hiding Behind Her Smile

You cannot see the torn up pieces,
the remains of a broken sole,
a heart shattered,
the pieces scattered,

You can only see her smile

You cannot hear a lonely cry,
a yell expressing unbearable anger,
a subtle weep,
she cannot sleep,

you can only hear her laugh

You cannot feel her aching heart,
hung out to dry,
sinks down like a rock,
her stomach will drop,

You can only feel her lie

Thank you very much for your kind comment. Great piece this. Sums up the strength of the female. Covering up her true feelings with an outward shell while dying inside, keeping up the pretence even though everyone knows. Strong piece, well crafted. Peace and happiness to you and yours. Eamon
