Hide From the Thoughts That Prove We Exist
It seems the term present reality
Is not what its name suggests
Every individual in constant battle with themselves
What the world has so graciously given, contradicts and contests
Using, abusing, seeking whatever we can
To escape what we can never quite elude
Even still, left with brief moments of lucidity
We find as a most unwelcome interlude
Ironically, the very connection of life between mind, body, and soul
Leads only to want of breaking those binds
Pushing and pulling as hard as we can
Against our perceptions which cause these self induced confines
Putting as much distance between ourselves and what’s real
The consistent goal, the ultimate we strive to gain
Takes us past the furthest edges of oblivion
To the final leap, we still reluctantly refrain
This revolving subconscious desire to live
Is given momentum from fear of our own realities
Absent is the logic that should contradict this avid resistance
To the very proof of our existence in its entirety
So we must ask ourselves, if this be the will of the universe
That we are gifted with presence, but plagued by lack of full sincerity
Created with instinctive need to commit ourselves to this life
Created with a conflicting human nature, a cruel tricked fidelity
With these impossible parameters, we accept there’s no chance of success
Now able to understand the struggle in itself provides us true vitality
