Hidden In the Wall
My heart focused, on the scene before my eyes
Not until I stood there, did I realize
The reflection of the world now at my back
Is covered by the surface, of that marble track
And just as the image, trapped inside the stone
I find myself amidst the crowd, yet totally alone
Awe struck as I stand here, camera ready, aimed
I’m covered by the blood, of the thousands named
I must capture this moment, for all the world to see
The men and women who live here, died to keep us free
This shot must be perfect, if it takes me all the day
It must portray the message, the reflection has to say
The visitors are endless, as time goes slowly by
I stand here in this presence, and I wonder why
War goes on forever, like reflections of the sky
I am angered and I’m saddened, by the harshness that I face
Why does the fighting never stop, no winner of this race
No peaceful end to the day, what has been will be
But the day I stood there, I knew they died for me
So listen to the message, from those who took the fall
It’s hidden in reflections; in the tomb we call the wall
